How each check works and its limits
What it fixes, and what it won't
If your page is a standard size plus bleed but the file doesn't mark where to cut (or its trim size just repeats the page size), or its trim and bleed settings contradict each other, you can download a corrected copy. Only those page settings change; the original content is kept byte for byte.
It won't add bleed that isn't there, sharpen low-resolution photos, or convert RGB to CMYK. Each of those changes your artwork, and doing it automatically would hide the problem rather than solve it. The report explains how to fix them in your design app instead.
Questions
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The check runs in your browser using JavaScript on your own device. The file isn't sent to a server, so it stays private and nothing is stored.
If everything passes, will my file print perfectly?
Not necessarily. This is an automated technical check of the most common problems. It can't judge your design, and printers have their own requirements, so always look at the printer's proof before approving a job.
Does it work with Canva PDFs?
Yes. Download your design as “PDF Print” and drop it in. The check recognizes files made by Canva and adds Canva-specific tips where they help.
What resolution do my images need?
Aim for 300 DPI at the size the image is printed. The check marks images under 150 DPI as likely to look blurry and 150–224 DPI as possibly soft. Large posters can use lower resolution because they're viewed from further away.
Can it fix my PDF?
Only where a fix is safe and exact. If your page already includes bleed but doesn't mark the trim size, or the trim and bleed settings contradict each other, you can download a corrected copy. It won't invent bleed, upscale images or convert colors, because those changes would alter your design.
